EMS, OTHER CALLS LEAD IN SURGE OF MFD ACTIVITY

MIDLAND, TEXAS -- Calls to the Midland Fire Department in 2025 appear headed to top totals in 2024.
Midland Fire Department reported this week 21,130 calls for fire, EMS or “other” from January through November. That is an increase of 6.5% compared to the first 11 months of 2024.
EMS calls have increased 4.6% to 15,592 in 2025, while yearly numbers for other (carbon monoxide, gas meter leaks, lines down, public service fire, HazMat, submerged vehicles, unusual odors) are up 14.2%.
Calls for fires actually have dropped in 2025 by 3.5%.
Other metrics reported included:
- 16.7% of all calls in November were from residents living in the county (and outside the city). That was down from 20% in October.
- 74% of all calls in November were for EMS services
- 73.7% of all calls this year have been for EMS services
- 2.3% of all calls in October and this year have been for fires.
