Animal Services records new standards for January, including adoptions

MIDLAND ANIMAL SERVICES ESTABLISHES NEW HIGH MARKS FOR ADOPTIONS, RELEASE RATE, LENGTH OF STAY IN JANUARY

(Feb. 20, 2026)

MIDLAND, TEXAS -- Midland Animal Services is reporting a new high mark for adoptions during the month of January.

The Midland Animal Services team showed 94 adoptions in January, which helped the team respond to the 369 intakes during the month (also a high mark for the month of January).

The number of adoptions, the 75 transfers and 48 return to owners in January helped Midland Animal Services record a 77% live release rate (a high mark for January going back to 2023) and the lowest length-of-stay average (11.02 days in January).

Of the 73 animals euthanized, less than half were because of space issues.
