MPD HELPS APPREHEND TWO CAPITAL MURDER SUSPECTS, SENDS THEM BACK TO CENTRAL TEXAS

 (April 26, 2024)

MIDLAND, TEXAS -- Two suspects wanted for capital murder are in custody in Central Texas after Midland Police Department officers helped in their apprehension in Midland this week. 

Midland Police reported that on April 18, 2024, they received word that two suspects involved in a homicide that occurred in Lee County – located around 40 miles east of Austin -- were believed to be in Midland. 

The ensuing investigation determined Jayden Dangelo Medearis, 18, and Tavion Malique Williams, 19, had addresses in Midland. On Monday, April 22, 2024, MPD officials identified and took Medearis into custody. Medearis was then transported back to Lee County.

The search for Williams continued, and at approximately 10 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2024, “MPD was notified via the (US Marshals Service) that Williams had contacted them and he was at Dollar General, located at 2300 Fairgrounds Road, and that he was wanting to surrender to police.”

MPD officers responded and located Williams. He was taken into custody and then transported to Lee County on Friday, April 26, 2024.
