(May 9, 2024)
MIDLAND, TEXAS -- Midland Police arrested a 27-year-old on Thursday, May 9, 2024, for burglary of Texas Leadership Academy of Midland (TLCA) earlier in the day.
Raiquann Terreek Abner was arrested for Burglary of a Building – a state jail felony – and booked into the Midland County Jail.
At 9:30 a.m. Thursday, MPD officers responded to a call about an alleged burglary that occurred at the school, which is located in the 3300 block of Thomas Avenue.
“Staff at the school reported that when they arrived for work the morning of May 9, 2024, they observed numerous items throughout the school to be disheveled and vandalized,” MPD officers reported. “Staff reviewed security cameras and observed that a male had entered the school overnight. Staff was unsure if the male was still inside the school. MPD Officers subsequently cleared the school finding no one inside.”
MPD called what ensued as a good case showing police and citizens working together.
A photograph of the suspect was submitted to and featured by Midland Crime Stoppers, MPD reported. Crime Stoppers then received a tip, which identified the suspect Abner.
“Detectives obtained a photograph of Abner and confirmed him as the suspect in the burglary,” MPD reported. “At approximately 4:21 p.m. the Midland Police Department received a call from a citizen reporting that they had observed a male matching the description of the suspect from the burglary in the 3400 block of Thomason Drive.”
MPD officials responded and located Abner, who was found in possession of property which had been stolen from the Texas Leadership Academy.
