(May 21, 2024)
MIDLAND, TEXAS -- Midland City Manager Tommy Gonzalez has announced that Greg Snow, a 25-year veteran of the force, has been named Interim Police Chief.
“Greg has consistently demonstrated exemplary leadership qualities,” Gonzalez stated. “He has received the Supervisor of the Year awards in 2012 and 2015, underscoring his commitment and effectiveness in his roles. Currently, as a Deputy Chief, he manages a significant portfolio that includes overseeing a team of detectives and analysts, managing the budget for his department, collaborating with other city departments, and leading our engagements with other community entities.”
Gonzalez led a senior executive team, which evaluated the credentials and performance of three assistant chiefs and one lieutenant who interviewed during the selection process.
The City of Midland already has announced plans to initiate a national search for a permanent Police Chief in due course.
“The appointment of Mr. Snow as the Interim Chief will ensure continuity and stability within the Police Department during this transition period,” Gonzalez stated. “Please join me in welcoming Greg to his new role. We are confident that his leadership will be invaluable as we continue to uphold the safety and security of our community.”
Tuesday is the last day for current Police Chief Seth Herman, who has accepted the same position at the City of Lubbock. Gonzalez and the Midland City Council appreciate Herman for his service and dedication to the Midland Police Department.
