Airline passengers increase by nearly 14% in May

AIRLINE BOARDINGS IN MIDLAND JUMP NEARLY 14% IN MAY

(June 20, 2024)

MIDLAND, TEXAS -- More than 67,000 people boarded an airline at Midland International Air & Space Port during the month of May, resulting in a 13.85% increase compared to May 2023.

Airport officials reported the potential record year for boardings continued in May. The 67,684 passengers increased the number this year to 475,334 – an increase of 12.23% compared to last fiscal year. 

Southwest Airlines accounted for nearly half of the revenue passengers. Also flying out of Midland are American Eagle, United and Delta. 

City officials also reported that parking revenue at Midland International Air & Space Port increased 13.14% in May (compared to May 2023). Net parking revenue topped $717,000 and increased the fiscal year-to-date total to $5.302 million, a 15.39% increase compared to the first eight months of FY 2023.
