FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: APPLICATIONS OPEN FOR CITIZENS EDUCATION PROGRAM MIDLAND 101 2024-2025

MIDLAND, TEXAS -- Applications are now being accepted for the 2024-2025 class of Midland 101, the City of Midland's citizen education program.
Over the course of seven sessions, participants gain an in-depth look at local government operations. Classes cover the ins and outs of operating the City's air and space port, developing and revitalizing downtown, maintaining the City's water supply, public safety, and more.
Midland 101 is ideal for anyone who would like to take a leadership role in the community and is excellent preparation for serving on a City of Midland board or commission. The program is an engaging way to meet people who are passionate about what they do, and to network with other Midland 101 participants who share similar interests and diverse backgrounds.
Applications are available at https://www.midlandtexas.gov/1255/Midland-101or in the City Manager's Office at 300 N. Loraine. Class size is limited, and applicants are encouraged to apply promptly. Applications will be accepted until Sunday, August 18, 2024.

To be eligible, participants must:
• Be at least 18 years of age
• Reside within the Midland city limits
• Be registered to vote in Midland County
• Not currently hold or be running for elected office in any city, school district, county, state, or federal governmental body
• Be able to make a commitment to attend meetings
• Must attend 5 out of 7 classes in order to receive a certificate

Session 2: Wednesday, November 13, 2024
Session 3: Wednesday, December 11, 2024
Session 4: Wednesday, January 22, 2025
Session 5: Wednesday, February 19, 2025
Session 6: Wednesday, March 19, 2025
Session 7: Wednesday, April 16, 2025
