CITY URGES RESIDENTS, BUSINESSES TO HALT OUTDOOR WATERING
(March 5, 2025)
MIDLAND, TEXAS -- The City of Midland continues to plead for the need for conservation.
The City has water coming in, but we can’t catch up with our water supply and storage until unnecessary watering comes to a halt across Midland and a fix is in place. We are referring to businesses and people who choose outdoor watering, which can account for 55% of city water use.
We are struggling to keep up with the demand that goes beyond the essential use of water. Even if you haven’t been impacted during this period, there are others who are struggling with water pressure and delivery issues. Be a good neighbor. Stop outdoor watering – grass, landscaping, and pool refilling.
The City has received the parts needed to fix the valve and has rebuilt the valve as of this morning and afternoon. Tonight, during low usage hours (10:30 PM and beyond), we will begin to install the newly restored valve. Residents may continue to experience low pressure again on Thursday morning, dependent on the installation timeline overnight, especially during peak morning use hours (5:30-9 AM).
As we have previously reported, the City is actively working with engineering firms, consultants, and other companies to check lines and work expediently to get more water into the towers and improve water pressure/delivery across Midland. Those same companies will work with City staff on preventative measures and to help recognize problems with our infrastructure, so we don’t encounter an issue like this again.
We again thank our Citizens for their patience. We continue to work with city staff and our partners around the clock.
