City sales tax collection remains ahead of FY 2024, budget

CITY SALES TAX COLLECTION STILL $2.8M AHEAD OF BUDGET

(June 12, 2025)

MIDLAND, TEXAS -- The City of Midland sales tax collection remained ahead of budget and ahead of the pace set during fiscal year 2024, according to numbers released this week by the Texas Comptroller.

The Comptroller showed $5,106,517 in sales tax revenue during the month of June, which was a decrease of 5.46% from June 2024.

Still, the City of Midland reported a year-to-date balance of $51,161,309, which is a 2.54% increase over this point last year and more than $2.85 million ahead of budget.

Sales tax revenue is generated by sales tax income from two months prior to collection; June’s collection is based on April sales. The City of Midland collects a full cent of the 8.25% of sales tax inside the City of Midland.
