EZ-Rider struggles to keep up with 2024 numbers

EZ-RIDER USE IN MIDLAND STILL TRAILS 2024 PASSENGER NUMBERS

MIDLAND, TEXAS -- EZ-Rider fixed-route ridership decreased in August (compared to August 2024), according to the Midland-Odessa Urban Transit District.

The MOUTD reported that fixed-route public transportation use in Midland reached its highest level going back to at least February (11,233 rides). Year over year, ridership in August was down 10.8% compared to August 2024. The MOUTD also reported fixed-route ridership in Midland was comparable to Odessa (11,233 to 10,532 in Odessa).

EZ-Rider is the bus system in both Midland and Odessa. The Midland-Odessa Urban Transit District operates the system. The City of Midland helps fund EZ-Rider operations.
