The Midland Police Department's Traffic Control Unit would like to encourage patrons of Rock the Desert to observe event traffic patterns which have been established for the safety of attendees.
Three entry and exit points have been established along Hwy 1788: North Gate, Main Gate and South Gate.
N Gate will only be utilized at the end of each night as an ingress point for traffic travelling South Bound on 1788.
Main Gate will be utilized from the opening of the event to its conclusion each night. All North Bound traffic will be directed into the event to pick up attendees and will be directed to the pick up area. Traffic will then exit thru South Gate being directed to South Bound only onto Hwy 1788.
S Gate will be utilized from the opening of the event to its conclusion each night. Both North and South Bound traffic will be allowed to use S Gate up to the time deemed necessary to prepare for the conclusion of the event each night at which time S Gate becomes an egress only with exiting traffic being directed South Bound only onto Hwy 1788.
Additionally:
-Drive defensively
-Be watchful of pedestrians
-Drive at an appropriate rate of speed for the conditions
-Never, ever operate a motor vehicle while under the influence
