City of Midland Traffic Alert

[ARCHIVED] Traffic alerts and lane closures

Drainage Improvements:

The city is continuing drainage improvements in the north alley of the 5000 block of Rainbow Circle. The alley will be closed the remainder of the project.

The city is making drainage improvements at the intersection of W. Missouri Ave. and S. K Street. During the project K Street will be closed just south of W. Missouri Ave. at the intersection.

Briarwood Avenue Paving Project:

The contractor will be installing temporary pavement along Briarwood Avenue west of the Avalon Road intersection. The traveling public is warned to be cautious while traveling on Briarwood Avenue between Avalon Road and Holiday Hill Road.

Fairgrounds Road Widening Project:

The contractor working for TxDOT on the Fairgrounds Road Widening Project will be performing work on the north end of the project. Traffic is currently constrained to one-way operation, from Loop 250 to Pecan Street, throughout the length of the project. A detour is in place for northbound traffic.

Utility Extension Program:

The contractor will also be performing work in the area of Fairgrounds Road from the intersection with Pine Avenue and extending north to the intersection with Cynthia Avenue. During construction, there may be temporary lane closures Pine Avenue and Cynthia Avenue.

The contractor will also be performing work in the area of Kentucky Avenue from Stonewall Street to Benton Street. During construction part or all of Kentucky Avenue and its intersections with Stonewall Street, Webster Street, and Benton Street may be closed and traffic directed around the work zone.

TxDOT: I-20 Project will reconfigure ramps serving West Loop 250:

A project to reconfigure Interstate 20 ramps that service West Loop 250 and rebuild frontage roads is underway. The nearly year-long project will have several traffic pattern changes during the course of construction. The speed limit in the 1.4-mile area will be reduced to 55 miles per hour. Concrete traffic barriers will be in place in part of the work zone to help protect work crews. All lanes will be open for the majority of the project.

TxDOT: Tank Farm Road Bridge Work:

The Tank Farm Road bridge replacement project will close westbound Interstate 20. All traffic will be moved to what are normally the two eastbound lanes and channeled down to one lane. Traffic will be separated by a concrete traffic barrier.The speed limit along the interstate for this project will be reduced to 50 miles per hour. Motorists are asked to find alternate routes while work is being done if possible.
