To build or renovate properties in the City of Midland, contractors must be registered with the City. Contractor registration is essential to protect homeowners and the City from legal liability and ensure the structural integrity of buildings. Prior to issuing any permits, a bond of ten thousand dollars ($10,000) must be provided and approved by the City Attorney.
Apply with the Building Department
Complete the contractor's bond application along with the contractor's information sheet.
Once you have filled out the contractor's bond application and information sheet, please email the completed documents to permitrequests@midlandtexas.gov.
We will submit a copy of your contractor's bond application to the Building Official for approval.
Once the bond is approved, you will receive a notification via email. Additionally, we will provide you with the contractor's bond packet required by the City of Midland.
Upon receiving the bond, please print a copy and provide it to your insurance company, as they are responsible for finalizing the bond.
Once the insurance company completes the bond, the Permit Department will need the original signed and sealed bond to be mailed to our office or dropped off at City Hall:

Attention: Code Department
P.O. Box 1152

Upon receipt of the bond, we will forward it to our Legal Department for signature. If any issues arise with the bond, you will be notified via email. If no issues occur, you will receive notification that you have been bonded with the City of Midland. At this point, you are cleared to proceed with submitting permits.
