Fire Recruit Qualifications
Fire Recruit Base Yearly Salary: $48,046.00
Recruit applicants will be ranked based on written test scores and physical agility test results. Depending on openings, the MFD may host a TCFP approved Fire Academy. Applicants on the Fire Recruit list will interview for placement in the academy. Based on interview board recommendations, applicants will either proceed with the City of Midland employment process or not be considered for employment.
Preference will be given to individuals holding current National Registry or Texas DSHS EMS certifications for Fire Recruit positions attending the MFD Fire Academy.
To be considered as an eligible applicant, you must:
- Have a clean driving record
- Possess a high school diploma or GED
- Be between the ages of 18 and 35, having not met the 36th birthday at the time of appointment.
- A valid Texas issued driver’s license must be obtained prior to appointment.
Additional requirements
Successful completion of all entrance testing processes, including:
- written examination
- physical agility test
- oral interview
- medical physical
- Background checks.
