About Field Operations
Field Operations responds to animal-related calls throughout Midland, working to keep both residents and animals safe. The team handles everything from stray and nuisance animal complaints to cruelty investigations, wildlife concerns, and ordinance enforcement. By providing accurate information when you call, you help officers resolve issues quickly and effectively.
Do you have a concern about an animal?
If you believe an animal poses a danger to the public or is in danger, or has been abandoned, please call:
- Midland Animal Services at (432) 685-7420 during business hours.
The following are defined as after-hours emergency calls for service:
- Loose Livestock (The Sheriff’s office is responsible for all loose livestock within the County. Animal Services will assist as needed.)
- Animals that have bitten an individual and are currently loose and not confined. (Confined owned animals can be responded to on the next business day.)
- Wild animals that have bitten an individual or are loose within a residence. Venomous snakes that have bitten a pet or human. Any bats that have bitten anyone or loose within a residence.
- Injured animals (Animal must be immobile) - Truly injured animals that require after-hours response will not be able to run away when the officer arrives.
Animal Services does not respond to loose animal calls during emergency after-hours operations.
Animal-related services to the public
City of Midland Field Services only serves within the City limits. If you live in Midland County, contact the Midland County sheriff’s Office at (432) 688-4600”
These services include:
- Removal of deceased animals that are out of harm's way
- Fence inspection for secure containment
- Management of barking complaints and non-aggressive dogs at-large
- Wildlife observations in neighborhoods
- Assistance with found dogs
- Microchip scanning and identification
- Addressing excessive feces, tethering violations, and landlord pet surrenders
- Oversight of roadside animal sales
- Investigations into animal bites, cruelty, and wildlife issues
- Education on humane trapping, zoonotic diseases, and animal husbandry
- Enforcement of city ordinances on animal violations
- Additional animal-related services as required

For after hour emergency animal issues call 432-685-7108 for Animal Control Officers within the city limits.
