The Administrative Services Bureau is responsible for the overall administration of the Midland Police Department. This Bureau encompasses:

Office of the Chief

The police chief manages the department’s 200 sworn officers and 53 civilian employees, setting both the overall direction and day-to-day operation of the department.

Seth Herman serves as Police Chief, a post he has held since March 2018. Herman is a 25-year veteran of MPD and has served in varied units throughout his career; spanning patrol, K9, SWAT, Gang Unit, and Narcotics.

Accreditation

The Midland Police Department is nationally accredited by CALEA. CALEA accreditation denotes an agency’s commitment to attaining the highest standards in policing. To attain accreditation, an agency must develop a set of written directives, the ability to make informed management decisions, a preparedness program, a plan to develop or improve community relations and more.

CALEA Accreditation
