[ARCHIVED] Carver Street Bridge Ribbon Cutting

The City of Midland is preparing to open Carver Street Bridge to the public.

On Tuesday, December 18, 2018 City Council, the Midland Development Corporation, and community members will formally open the bridge with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Carver Street Bridge replaces a low-water crossing which had to be closed during heavy rains. The new bridge was funded with $2,279,873 from the Midland Development Corporation and took ten months to construct. It will provide a safe crossing over Scharbauer Draw for pedestrians and cars alike, as well as access to commercial development in East Midland. The bridge project also incorporated drainage basins designed to improve conditions during storm episodes.

The ribbon-cutting is scheduled for 11:00 AM December 18 on the bridge, located at Carver Street South of Scharbauer Drive. The public is invited to attend.
