A Midland man was pronounced deceased after a motorcycle accident Saturday evening.
Midland Police and Fire Departments responded to the scene at approximately 5:08 p.m. in the 2100 block of South Rankin Highway. Gilardo Vargas, 24, was transported in critical condition to Midland Memorial Hospital, where he died of his injuries.
The investigation into the accident revealed that a Ford F-150 pickup, traveling northbound on Rankin Highway, was making a left turn into a parking lot when it turned into the path of Vargas' Kawasaki motorcycle traveling southbound on Rankin Highway, at which point Vargas' motorcycle struck the pickup.
The occupants of the pickup were not injured. No charges had been filed as of Sunday morning as the investigation continues.
