[ARCHIVED] MPD searching for vehicle involved in fatal hit-and-run

A Midland man was killed in a hit-and-run accident at approximately 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday.

Midland Police and Fire Departments responded to the intersection of North Midland Drive and Neely Avenue, where responders found citizens attempting to perform CPR on 27-year-old Francisco Iglecias, who was later pronounced deceased on scene.

An investigation into the accident revealed that a black Chevrolet Camaro was traveling southbound in the outside lane and a green SUV was traveling southbound in the inside lane, both of which faced a green light while Iglecias was walking in a crosswalk on Midland Drive. Iglecias was struck by the green SUV, knocking him to the ground, and then run over by the black Camaro. The green SUV fled the scene. The SUV is believed to have damage to the front right portion of the vehicle.

Next of kin has been notified and the investigation continues.

Individuals with any information that could help locate the SUV are asked to call MPD at 432-685-7108.
