[ARCHIVED] Burglary/Officer-Involved Shooting

Three suspects will face charges after a burglary and officer-involved shooting took place early Friday morning.

Midland police were dispatched to a house located in the 900 block of West Taylor Avenue at 1:48 a.m. Friday in reference to a burglary, during which shots were fired in the residence.

Police later located an armed subject, Hector Subia (DOB 5/23/77), in an alley behind a house located near the intersection of South Terrell Street and East New Jersey Avenue shortly before 4 a.m.

Subia, upon being encountered by police, directed the gun at himself before directing it at an officer. The officer fired two rounds, striking Subia. The suspect was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Subia could face charges for burglary with intent to commit another felony and aggravated assault of a peace officer.

Two other suspects were taken into custody shortly after the officer-involved shooting in connection to the burglary and will be charged with burglary with intent to commit another felony. They are Joshua Wallace (DOB 6/9/84) and Joseph Gentry, Jr. (10/2/69).

No other injuries were reported as a result of the burglary or officer-involved shooting. The Texas Rangers are currently investigating the officer’s use of force in this incident.
