Midland residents are invited to visit six recently renovated playgrounds for the chance to win prizes during the City of Midland’s Parks and Recreation Division’s Progressive Playground Party on Saturday, Nov. 8.
The event, which will coincide with Love Your Parks Day, will kick off with a ribbon cutting at 9 a.m. at C.J. Kelly Park, which was recently renovated along with Cowden Park, Hidalgo Park, Dunagan Park, Garrett-Brown Park, and Hill Park.
At 10 a.m., the community is invited to take part in a tree-planting ceremony at Beal Park, which is located at 5200 W. Wall St. The planting of 30 trees through a partnership with TXU Energy will serve as a groundbreaking for a soon-to-be-developed dog park at Beal Park. The public is invited to bring a shovel and learn about tree planting from Midland TreeKeepers representatives.
Families are invited to visit each of the new six playgrounds between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. to receive a ticket for door prizes. Each park will offer something different for children, such as demonstrations, face painting and more.
The six parks with newly renovated equipment are:
C.J. Kelly Park, 5500 League Dr.
Cowden Park, 1100 Ward St.
Hidalgo Park, 1401 Orchard Ln.
Dunagan Park, 600 E. Gist Ave.
Garrett-Brown Park, 300 S. Holly Dr.
Hill Park, 1301 W. Cuthbert Ave.
