[ARCHIVED] City departments to face off in Chili Cook Off on Tuesday

The Midland Municipal Employee Scholarship Fund will hold its 8th Annual Chili Cook Off from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Nov. 11 at First Baptist Church (2104 W. Louisiana Ave.).

This year's Chili showdown allows City departments and other organizations to compete for year-long bragging rights and possession of a traveling trophy. Mayor Jerry Morales will also be serving his own chili recipe throughout the event.

Proceeds from the cook off will benefit the Midland Municipal Employee Scholarship Fund. Each year, this fund awards education scholarships to City of Midland employees and their children.

The winner with the best overall chili will win a cash prize in the amount of the total registration fees.

Tickets may be purchased in advance for $5 or at the door on the day of the event for $7. The entrance fee includes chili, crackers and a drink, and baked goods will be available for purchase. Contact Adrienne Seal at 432-685-7455 to enter, purchase a ticket, or for more details.
