[ARCHIVED] Firefighter recruits to graduate from MFD academy

Ten recruits of the Midland Fire Department will graduate from Fire Academy during a ceremony at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 13 in the Carrasco Room of Midland College.

These individuals have successfully met the skills and testing requirements as set forth by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection to qualify as a graduate from an approved fire training academy. This is the second class to graduate from the MFD's in-house academy, and have been training since November 2014.

Upon passing a state test and receiving a basic fire suppression certification, these graduates will be promoted to the position of firefighter.

Three of the recruits will be enrolled into the first Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) basic hybrid class offered by Midland College, and will be promoted to firefighter after completing that course and successfully passing the EMT national registry test.

The graduates will be: Jesus Almance-Molinar, Derek Fitzpatrick, Anthony Harrison, Jonathan Moore, Tanor Patino, Justin Rhoades, Aaron Rozette, Christopher Vargas, Corey White, and Dillon Whittaker.
