American Airlines will offer its first westbound service from Midland when it adds a new flight to Phoenix in 2016.
The new service will operate daily, with flights from the Midland International Air & Space Port leaving at 1 p.m. on a 79-seat regional jet. It is expected that customers may begin booking flights for the new route beginning Saturday, November 14, and service will start on March 3, 2016.
American’s new service is a catalyst for the airport's future growth, as well as a way to enhance travel and business opportunities for Midland and nearby communities. The other two flights traveling west and north from Midland at this time are offered by United to Denver, and by Southwest to Las Vegas.
“MAF welcomes American Airlines’ service to Phoenix,” said Director of Airports Justine Ruff. “Through this new hub in Phoenix, customers will have simpler access to destinations to the west and beyond.”
