[ARCHIVED] MPD to recognize officers, civilians at 24th annual awards banquet

The Midland Police Department will hold its annual awards banquet at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 24 at Midland Country Club (6101 N. Highway 349).

The banquet is an opportunity to recognize a select group of sworn and civilian personnel for the outstanding job they do for the department and the community.

Award winners are:

Field Operations Bureau:

Supervisor of the Year: Sgt. Greg Snow
Officer of the Year: Officer Aaron RenzRookie of the Year: Brianna Rodriguez

Investigative Services Bureau:

Detective of the Year: Detective Anthony Corson
Explorer of the Year: Leah Pond

Support Services Bureau:

Officer of the Year: Officer Kent SpencerTop Gun: Lt. Greg Chatwell
Fitness Award: Detective James Dolan

MPD Civilian Supervisor of the Year: Marty BarrettMPD Civilian of the Year: Geena Arevalo

Chief’s Award Recipients:

David Yousha
Sgt. Rosemary Sharp

Distinguished Service Medal: Officer Aaron Renz

Retirees Medal of Service: Lt. Victor Rivera, Sgt. Richard Faulkenberry, Amy La Pointe, Debbie McCleery, Pamela Stallings, Kevin Wolf

Citizens Appreciation Award: William H. Pickering, CJ Burkheart, Jose Olague

Volunteers with the Citizen Police Academy, Citizens On Patrol and Volunteer Parking Enforcement will also be recognized.

This year’s speaker will be Dean Emeritus Walter Huffman. Dean Huffman joined the Texas Tech School of Law after a distinguished 25-year career in the U.S. Army as Judge Advocate General.
