[ARCHIVED] One arrested, one outstanding in aggravated robbery case

The Midland Police Department has arrested one suspect this week in connection with an aggravated robbery, and detectives are still looking for his accomplice in the crime that occurred at an apartment complex on Sunday evening.

Victor Alexander Patton, 20, of Midland admitted to being the owner of a firearm used in the crime and was charged with aggravated robbery on Tuesday as a result of an ongoing investigation into the incident.

Midland police responded to the robbery at approximately 9:14 p.m. in the 5100 block of North A St. at Annex Apartments. The victim said he was walking outside and was approached by a silver Honda CR-V that was occupied by the two suspects. Patton was armed with an AK-47 rifle in the back seat and ordered the victim to enter the vehicle. Once inside the vehicle, the suspects then demanded the victim’s wallet. The victim produced his wallet and then retrieved his own pistol, pointing it at the suspects in what police determined to be self-defense. A brief struggle ensued, and the victim was pushed out of the vehicle after he recovered his wallet. The suspects fled the scene and crashed into a fence before leaving on foot and throwing the rifle into a field.

Police recovered the vehicle and traced the information back to Patton. The driver of the vehicle is still unknown, and he is described as a tall, thin black male.

The investigation into the robbery continues. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Midland Police Department at 432-685-7108 or Midland Crime Stoppers at 432-694-TIPS.
