A new road in Midland will soon provide relief for nearby residents and allow runners and bicyclists to enjoy 3 miles of continuous trails in southwest Midland.
City of Midland officials will hold a ribbon cutting for the extension of Beal Parkway at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 21 near the street’s intersection with Leisure Drive. The new portion of road extends from Leisure Drive to the intersection of Illinois Avenue and Thomason Drive, which will reduce neighborhood traffic associated with new developments in a residential area.
Engineers also designed the project to be pedestrian- and bike-friendly to connect portions of an existing hike/bike trail system, which created 3 continuous miles of trail between Beal Park and Lancaster Park.
The total cost of construction for this project was approximately $1.2 million. Maverick Engineering assisted with the design of the project and construction was completed by Jones Brothers Dirt & Paving.
