[ARCHIVED] MPD to honor fallen officers during National Police Memorial Week

The Midland Police Department will recognize National Police Memorial Week with a memorial bicycle ride on May 14 and a memorial service on May 18. 

The annual bicycle memorial ride is scheduled for Sunday, May 14 at 2 p.m. at the Midland Police Department located at 601 N. Loraine St. The ride will be 27 miles long to honor the 24 Texas law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the line of duty in the past year and the three MPD officers who have been killed while protecting our city over the years.

The annual memorial service for fallen officers in Texas is scheduled for Thursday, May 18 at 3 p.m. at Stonegate Fellowship located at 6000 W. Wadley Ave. The names of each officer who made the ultimate sacrifice will be read aloud and a rose will be placed in their memory. 

Both the memorial ride and the memorial service are public events and the community is encouraged to attend.
