Midland City Council will begin making appointments for city boards and commissions in September for the new fiscal year.
Terms generally vary from two to four years, with most beginning on Oct. 1.
Applications are available at the City Secretary’s Office, Room 330, in City Hall located at 300 N. Loraine, or by calling 432-685-7430. The application can also be downloaded from the City's website at www.midlandtexas.gov by selecting "Boards and Commissions" under the Government tab. The deadline for applications is 5 p.m. on Sept. 1.
The following boards and commissions will have open seats:
•Airport Planning and Development Board – 4 seats
•Animal Services Advisory Commission – 4 seats
•City Development Advisory Committee – 2 seats
•Construction Board of Adjustments and Appeals – 5 seats, 2 alternates
•Hotel/Motel Tax Advisory Board – 4 seats
•Midland Center Advisory Board – 5 seats (3 Chamber of Commerce appointments, 2 City appointments)
•Midland Housing Authority Commission – 2 seats
•Midland-Odessa Urban Transit District Board – 4 seats
•Oil and Gas Advisory Committee – 2 seats (2 property/real estate experience)
•Parks and Recreation Commission – 3 seats
•Planning and Zoning Commission – 3 seats
•Zoning Board of Adjustment and Airport Zoning Board of Adjustment – 3 seats, 3 alternates
