[ARCHIVED] City of Midland welcomes new Communications Officer

Elana Ladd has been hired as the City of Midland’s new Communications Officer. In this role, Ladd will oversee internal and external communication strategies for the City, including media relations and citizen communication.

“Elana’s background, familiarity with Midland, and her enthusiasm for public service made her a natural choice,” said Courtney Sharp, City Manager.

Ladd joins the City of Midland from the City of Austin where she served as a City Council Constituent Liaison and in the Parks and Recreation Department. Ladd brings with her varied government administration experience, having served as committee staff at the Texas House of Representatives, in addition to nearly five years in oil & gas public and government affairs in Washington, DC and Midland.

“Having worked in both the public and private sectors, I bring a unique perspective and appreciation for public-private collaboration,” Ladd shared. “I am thrilled to be back in Midland, and look forward to getting the word out about the exciting growth happening downtown and throughout the city,” she added.

Ladd holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Government from Smith College, and is a graduate of the Non-Profit Management Center’s “Generations…Past, Present, and Future” board member training class.
