[ARCHIVED] October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month

On October 10th, Midland Mayor Jerry Morales presented a proclamation declaring National Cyber Security Awareness Month.

On October 11th and 25th, City employees will have the opportunity to learn about steps to keep their identity and other sensitive information safe online.

On October 24th, the City will offer a free education session to the community. The event will take place at the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, 2300 Butternut Lane, from 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM, and will address ways citizens can help keep their families safe online.

National Cyber Security Awareness Month was founded in 2010 through a collaboration between the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the National Cyber Security Alliance. The mission of the Awareness Month is to spread knowledge which empowers individuals to protect themselves online. Collectively, the Cyber Security Alliance believes, this education makes America safer and more resilient from digital malware attacks.
