Multiple events are planned for National Police Week in Midland, which runs May 13 – 19.
On Thursday, May 17, a memorial service will be held at Stonegate Fellowship, 6000 W. Wadley Ave., to honor Texas law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty over the past year. The memorial service is an annual event held by the Midland Police Department, and the public is invited to attend the 10:00 AM service in Building F.
This week, Midland Police Officers are also participating in a Texas Sergeant’s Academy. The two week program is specifically designed to develop and prepare first line police supervisors for the rigors and decision-making demands of law enforcement supervision. Police officers from across the Permian Basin are participating in the training. The Sergeant’s Academy graduation ceremony will be held on Friday May 18, at 11:00 AM at MPD Headquarters, 601 N. Loraine.
