The City of Midland invites the community to its annual Christmas tree lighting and lighted Christmas parade, which are happening over the next two weekends in central Midland.

The events were moved from downtown Midland this year in anticipation of demolition of the Midland Center. The Christmas tree lighting will take place Saturday, Dec. 3 at the Wadley Barron Duck Pond at 1001 N. “A” Street at 6:15 p.m., with festivities beginning before that at 5:45 p.m.

This year's lighted Christmas parade, which will take place on Saturday, Dec. 10 starting at 6:30 p.m., will have a "Rockin' Christmas" theme with inspiration from the 50's and 60's. The parade route will follow A Street from Ventura Avenue near Windlands Park and conclude near Midland High School.

Parade entry registrations will be accepted through December 8. To register a parade float or to learn more about these events, please visit www.midlandtexas.gov or call 432-685-7379.
