[ARCHIVED] Assistant Fire Chief to retire after 28 years at MFD

The Midland Fire Department will soon say goodbye and good luck to Assistant Chief Fritz Niggeler, who will retire on Jan. 13 after serving the department for 28 years.


A retirement party will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 13 at the Central Fire Station engine bay located at 1500 W. Wall Street.


Niggeler began his career with MFD in August of 1988, rising through the ranks before reaching his current position in 2009. Niggeler holds state certifications as a licensed paramedic, Master Instructor, and Master Firefighter. He graduated from the Executive Fire Officer program at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland, and earned his Baccalaureate in Organizational Management from Midland College.
